Soni Nayak

The Principle Lawyer

Soni is the principal lawyer of the SN Law Office and has over 20 years of experience in international corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, and insolvency. Having begun her legal career at an international law firm in India, she has advised companies in diverse industries such as pharmaceuticals and consumer goods in setting up operations within the country. Further, she is also experienced in navigating family law in matters such as custody, child welfare, and divorce, being a LESA-certified mediator of family and divorce conflicts.

Soni is an alumni of the University of Mumbai, where she received her first LLB. She is also a graduate of York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, and a member of the Law Society of Alberta and (non-practising) Law Society of Ontario.

Pawan Rai

Articling Student

Pawan Rai is an articling student who has completed the Internationally Trained Lawyer’s Pathway at the University of Alberta. She completed her Law LLB in England from the University of Leicester. She obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies in July 2023. She enjoys working in Family Law and being able to help those in need.

She has recently gained an interest for Criminal Law and is passionate about defending her clients. She is proficient in English, Punjabi and French. On the weekends, she loves to travel and visit her family in British Columbia. She also likes to explore Edmonton and try various foods. In the winter her favourite hobby is going skating at an outdoor rink.

Rami Chhina

Articling Student

Rami is an Articling Student with SN Law Office. He assists other lawyers within the firm to gain practical experience and understanding in the fields of Corporate, Commercial, Civil Litigation, and Family matters. Rami earned his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University of Edmonton and went on to obtain his LL.B. from the University of Leicester, in the United Kingdom.

He obtained his Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee of Accreditation in November 2022 and is expected to be called to the Alberta Bar in 2024. Prior to practicing his legal career at SN Law Office, Rami had a successful career in Finance working as a Direct Investing Specialist. Rami is an avid animal enthusiast, and in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Milan Sahni

Incoming Articling Student

Milan's academic journey began with a focus on legal studies, completing a Bachelor of Commerce from MacEwan University in April 2021. Milan then obtained his real estate licence in Alberta in June of 2021. Swiftly transitioning into the legal field, Milan further attended law school in Australia and graduated from Bond University’s Faculty of Law in August 2023. Milan was also the Marketing Director and Treasurer for the Canadian Law Students Association (CLSA) in 2023 in Australia.

Currently in the final stages of completing his Canadian legal qualifications with the NCA, Milan looks forward to beginning his legal journey as an articling student with SN in summer 2024. Proficient in both real estate and law, Milan is a seasoned professional, adeptly navigating the nuances of both fields simultaneously.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Milan is actively involved in his community. He will be joining the South Asian Bar Association in 2024 in the marketing department. In his leisure time, Milan enjoys playing hockey, golf, and traveling. This diverse array of interests mirrors Milan's dedication to a balanced life, seamlessly intertwining work and leisure.
